I'm Done!!! YEA!!!! (Exercise #23)

What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
My Favorite was the playing with the Comic Strip Generator (exercise #10), and playing with Youtube (exercise #20)!
How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
It has affected my ability to learn new technology that I have never played with before, which was difficult to learn at times!
Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
The Podcasting was the only one other than Technorati that was the most confusing.
What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?
Update the instructions, especially Technorati, cause to me it looked like it was out dated.
And last but not least…

If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you again chose to participate?
Of course, offer an Ipod next time!!!! LOL!!

I'm in Overdrive!!!! WAHOOO!!!!! (CRASH!!) (Exercise #22)

I downloaded the overdrive program, and downloaded a Audio book. I noticed right away that you can't upload it to a Ipod. It is in WMA format, so It'll only work in it's own software, or in Windows Media Player. It's pretty ok, but it doesn't have all the titles I want. I will keep using it to see if other titles become available.

Podcasts? Phhttttt!!!! (Exercise #20)

Here is my experiance with podcasting:
I was able to go all the sites, that means iTunes, Podcast Alley, Odeo, Podcast Pickle, and Podnova!

According to the instructions given I was suppose to do this:
"Add the RSS feed for a podcast to your Bloglines account"

Ok, I though, no problem. but NO WEBSITE ALOWS RSS FEEDS! Well take that back. Podcast Pickle does, but IT DOESN'T RSS IT TO BLOGLINES!!!

I was frustrated about this exercise, and I have no plans on using podcasts!!

Youtube (Exercise # 20)

I LOVE Youtube! I can find any video I ever wanted on it! (As long as it's not violating copywright laws) The Video I attached is a Music Video From the band Green Day called "Good Riddance (Time of your life)" Hope you enjoy it!!

g.ho.st (Exercise 19)

I played around, then went to some of my co-worker's blogs. I went to DP's Blog and went to this g.ho.st thing that she was talking about.

G.ho.st is basicly like a portable computer, complete with it's own operating system, you can store up to 5 GB on it's web server, and add additional 1 GB for each friend that you add.

I agree with her that the computer did freeze after you go into the mail part of the program, and I had to reboot it. I am a patience person, so I tried again, and it worked fine. It is in the "alpha" stage of testing, so there will be bugs in it.

The g.ho.st software comes with Zoho included, so you can do Word documents, and Excel documents too!

Once they get the kinks worked out, I highly recommend it to our customers!

I too will be using it too, once they fix the kinks, and bugs!

Web-based Apps (Exercise #18)

I created the below calendar using the Zoho Writer. Maybe I could use this for the monthly program calendar I make for my department, but I wish there were more fonts on here. I use Kristen ITC for my font on my program calendar. I will have to play with it! Also, i wish that they could do bigger table sizes. The biggest were 6X6 square. That's why Sunday's were cut off the calendar.

Here's my calendar!

PBWiki (exercise #17)

This exercise didn't go into much detail with PBWiki. I bet if there were more exercises based on this, maybe I would understand this a little better. But for now, It seemed like I wouldn't use it, unless I have a mass group of friends who want to share the same interests, movies music, etc.

Thanks anywayz!!

So what's in a wiki? (exercise # 16 )

I use Wikipedia almost every day, helping customers.

Let me explain.

When a customer needing help with a particular subject that isn't in our database, I try looking in Wikipedia to get a foundation of what I am to look for, in case I am overlooking something. then I search the internet, now I have a better idea on what I am to find.

So in all, wiki's are a resourceful tool to helping our customers. I do agree on the articles, Wikipedia should never be used to quote your source on a term paper for school!
